I am on a quest….. to understand urban education and urban students.
How? But understanding, seeking, and learning from my students and my current campus; to ask questions of myself and those around me.
Background
Currently, I am embarking on my 11th year of teaching English and Language Arts. I have had the privilege to work in one of the biggest urban school districts in America, Dallas; and, currently, working in an Urban Charter High School. Over the last 10 years, I have developed my own academic understanding of education by completing two Master of Education Degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Leadership.
With both my experience and academic background, I hope to truly dive into the realm of Urban Education, to fully understand its complexity, its success, its barriers, and it unique stories.
